How Does It Work?

When your vehicle is running and the charging-system voltage reaches the relay's activation threshold, the voltage-sensing relay can connect the auxiliary battery so it can receive charge.

When system voltage drops below the relay's disconnect threshold, the batteries are separated again.

This allows you to use an auxiliary battery for compatible lights, camping equipment, and other accessories without intentionally drawing those loads directly from your vehicle's starting battery.

Verify your vehicle's charging system, battery chemistry, cable requirements, fuse protection, and electrical compatibility before installation.

A voltage-sensing relay is not necessarily an appropriate replacement for a DC-to-DC charger in every vehicle or battery setup. Vehicles with smart alternators and some lithium auxiliary batteries may require a dedicated DC-to-DC charging system.

Use appropriately sized cables and circuit protection for the installation. High-current 12V electrical systems can cause severe overheating, fire, or equipment damage if improperly wired.

If you're unfamiliar with automotive electrical systems, installation by a qualified automotive or RV electrical professional is recommended.
